How do I know how much it will cost?
Since everything we create is fully-custom, and we're guessing you create custom work too, we'll create a quote for your project. We do have a cheat sheet so you know where it's going to range, so you can use that in your budgeting. We're really fast at turning around quotes, so give us 1-2 biz days and we'll get that over to you. If you need it faster, just let us know!
We have a price sheet that you can reference when youâre doing initial quotes for your clients. Remember this is for reference only and we will always make you a custom invoice that you can use for your final invoice to your client.
How long will it take?
We average about 7-10 business days after we get your files in hand. That includes ordering plates, ordering paper and printing. Sometimes things take a bit longer and weâll let you know that when we send over the quote. That way you can let your client know too.
What kinds of processes take longer?
Duplexing adds about two days. We manually glue two pieces of paper together and put it under a press until it dries. Drying takes about 24-36 hours in Colorado, thanks to our low humidity!
Scoring or any other assembly can add about one day to production.
Other things that add time to production include custom orders of handmade paper (we get it in Austria!), other custom materials that we canât get from our usual vendors, and bank holidays. Weâll always let you know if something youâre thinking about might need additional time.
What paper do you have in house?
We always stock Lettra in 220# and 110# in both Pearl and Fluorescent white. We also have a large stash of colored card stock in Colorplan and GMUND. Let us know what colored cardstock you need and we might have some in stock!
Can I send you paper? I have a big stash!
Yes, we need 30% more than your final quantity. Our process does involve trimming after printing, so we canât accept prints at final size (if you want a 5x7, donât send us a 5x7 for example). Unless of course weâre dealing with handmade paper, that we can and will do at final size.
How do I send you files?
We love an .ai file, thatâs that format we send our platemakers, so thatâs our preferred file.
You donât need to do anything fancy in your file, just outline the fonts, and set up one artboard for each color, and then one artboard for the final piece (also known as a composite) so we can see what the end result looks like.
You donât need to set up crop marks or anything, just that .ai file with fonts outlined, and weâll take it from there!
You can include your files in the Print Request form or email them directly to us at printing@knappdesignco.com when theyâre ready.
How do I know the status of my project?
Once you place your order you will receive a status page that will have all your files on it, so you can see what status they are in. Youâll receive a shipping notification when your items have shipped!
Hereâs what each status means:
đŚÂ Waiting on Materials - We could be waiting for your paper to arrive, or your plates.
đźď¸Â Waiting on Artwork - We are waiting for you to send us your artwork so we can order plates or dies.
âłÂ In Production Queue - We have all the materials for your project. Production will begin at the scheduled time on our project calendar.
âď¸Â In Cutting - This means we have your paper and weâre getting it trimmed down and ready to print!
đ¨ď¸Â In Printing - Your card is actively being printed! We will post photos in the comments of each card when we get photos.
đ Finishing - We are trimming your prints down to final size, die cutting, scoring, or doing any partial assembly
đ Final Inspection - We are going through each print to make sure it meets our standards
đ Shipped - Itâs on the way! You will receive an email with tracking info!
How do I start a project with you?
The best way to start a project is by filling out our Project Request form. Since youâre already set up in our platform this will auto add it to your account. Just make sure to use the same e-mail and youâll be on the way! Weâll let you know within 1-2 business days if we can meet your timeline and include a customized quote for you.
Can I send you digital prints to letterpress or die cut?
Yes! We do not offer digital printing in-house (we know our area of expertise, and that's not it!). But, we love combining letterpress with digital designs. We can even die cut your digital prints too! The great thing about our press is that we can die cut double thick digital prints. You know, the ones you get at Printswell, but you wish they were a fun shape? We do need a bit of extra room for the grippers on our press, so before you order the prints, submit your files to us for approval for file set up with bleeds and size, plus quantity requirements!
If youâre new to Printswell, get ready - theyâre the best. Sign up with the the link below, and you'll receive $25 off your first order!
